ABITARE was born in 1970 as a manufacture of precious wooden furniture, above all by making use of different burls and inlayed wood veneers with lacquered or glazed finishes. These quality products were exclusively for the Italian market.
In 1989, after some careful marketing research on a national and international level, ABITARE decided to exploit its experience and to add to the production of furniture also the manufacturing of wooden moulding for picture framing, creating immediately, with their new brand "L'arte di San Gimignano" an elegant and personal style which became quickly important on the market.
Only a few years later, because of the big success and achievement worldwide, the company decided to dedicate all the efforts towards the creation and distribution of wooden moulding for picture frames, increasing the range of products from the consolidated veneered and inlayed profiles to mouldings in various hardwoods, lacquers, washed, stained and gold-foiled finishes. Today the collection offers a big selection and satisfies the multiple and changing requirements of the market.
Service and flexibility are other strong characteristics of the structure which provides mouldings quickly from the stock composed of more than 700 high quality articles. Furthermore, ABITARE can also create and produce mouldings designed or requested by the customers who want to distinguish their company with a personalized, exclusive product.
The industrial production plants, always updated to the actual technology, combined with the great artisan experience and the use of selected materials, are placing the company between the most known and appreciated factories in the frame world in terms of quality and design. A particular attention goes to the protection of the environment. In effect, the factory operates with respect of the ISO 14001 rules and has obtained the certification FSC (Forest Stewardship Council – certificate No. SGS-COC-0647) for the employment of wood coming from well managed forests, following severe environmental rules.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has developed an international standard for forest management certification, consisting of ten "Principles and criteria for Forest Management". These concern the environmental, social and economic impacts of forest management.
The FSC also evaluates, accredits and monitors forest certification organisations which are authorised to certify against its Principles and Criteria.
